Dave was an outstanding A-Level Economics tutor for my daughter, helping her to secure a strong A grade. I used Dave to help both my sons with A level Economics and have no hesitation in recommending him. Dave clearly explained the Maths’ concepts that our child was struggling with during the first year of A Levels. His engaging and encouraging style really worked and we could see the difference in confidence and understanding within just a few lessons. He quickly assessed the priority areas and provided targeted feedback. This was supported with additional work and self-study as well as reviews of mock and past papers, resulting in an A grade. Dave tutored me for a number of months with A-level economics. He is clearly very knowledgeable in this subject which allows him to teach his students high level content which is required for those A/A* grades. He goes through topics in high detail ensuring that it is covered in full, rather than skimming through topics which unfortunately many teachers now do. His passion for Economics and learning in general shines through his work which creates a positive atmosphere in his sessions. Dave has been tutoring our 13 year old daughter, who is passionate about maths, for the past two years. They started with the fundamentals and have taken a building block approach to developing knowledge and techniques that underpin the GCSE syllabus with the intention to go through to A-Level. Dave is teaching her the language of maths and how to approach the same problem from multiple perspectives, thereby allowing her to select the optimal method for the challenge at hand. They have worked through a range of subjects and branches including algebra and trigonometry. Dave has an excellent teaching style. He takes the time to explain and always loops back to test learning. He is patient, positive and encouraging and is always upbeat which is important for instilling confidence. Dave has made a significant and lasting impact on our daughter's understanding, enjoyment and pace of progress in maths.
If I could rate 'Excellent Star' I would for Dave . He started tutoring my son in economics in his final year of A-Levels when we realised that a year of COVID disruption and college teaching, one week in class followed by one week via zoom, were failing his chances of good results. He soon took up tutoring my son in maths as well. He built my son's confidence and understanding in two complex and notoriously difficult A-Level subjects. Dave also arranged for no-cost group sessions practicing questions on the weekends during the examination season. He maximised the time for learning by following detailed timetables during the final year … and it worked. Dave has helped my son achieve grades this time last year he never thought he would see and to secure a place in his first choice university. Thank you so much.
Dave is an excellent A level maths tutor whom I would highly recommend. My daughter was really struggling and he was able to give her the confidence to actually enjoy maths and improve her grades (her words not mine). For those of you that have searched through many tutors profiles for A Level Maths as I have done previously. I have no hesitation in strongly recommending Dave . He takes the time to actively listen and fully understand the requirements of his students and tailor his approach accordingly. In the case of my son, Dave recalibrated much of his foundational understanding of Maths to build a solid base on which to build his detailed understanding of Hypothesis Testing, Trig Identities, Tension with a heavy focus on past papers to constantly identify and address potential gaps. As part of this process Dave not only reignited my sons interest in A Level Maths but most importantly rebuilt his confidence in the subject.
